Get the Girlies Moving!

Do I really need to lift weights? (& will it make me bulky?)

Episode Summary

Will lifting weights make you bulky? No. Babe, we promise. In this episode of Get the Girlies Moving, we’re talking about why women should be lifting weights, what strength training actually looks like, and why building muscle matters for a whole lot more than just how your body looks. In today’s episode, we’re chatting about: • The different styles of strength training and which one actually makes sense for your goals • Why lifting weights will not accidentally turn you into a bodybuilder • The long-term health benefits of building muscle, especially as women age • How to start lifting without feeling completely lost in the gym Muscle is a good thing. It supports your bones, your joints, your independence, your ability to move through life, and yes… it can also give you the toned arms and strong booty you’ve been trying to get from three-pound dumbbells. You are not going to accidentally get bulky from lifting weights. But you can absolutely get stronger, feel better, protect your body as you age, and build a body that actually lets you live your life. So grab a dumbbell. Preferably one heavier than three pounds. Love you, girlies!!
